Description

Butia Armata is an evergreen, flowering, solitary, perennial feather palm with a thick, stout stem and spreading light and refined copy.

This palm does not develop a crown shaft. Grows 6-9m tall with a spread of 3-4m spread and a stem diameter of 0.5-1m. Slow to medium growth at a rate of 25-40cm p/a. reaching 7m in 20-25 years.

Flowers are yellow to red. Fruits are yellow-brown or oval, yellow, brown or purple, maturing to orange-red. Fruit production starts after  6-8 years from seed.
